Alicia Keys Takes Number 1 Spot on Billboard Album Charts

“As I Am” by Alicia Keys moved up back into the top spot of the most recent US album chart. According to Billboard.com, it marks the fourth non-consecutive week that the album has been at No. 1.

During the past week in stores, 61,000 copies of “As I Am” were sold. It was enough to swap places on Billboard’s 200 with the soundtrack from “Juno” which sold a total of 55,000 copies. The album chart for Billboard is based on retail reports from Nielsen SoundScan.

During its debut week “The Bedlam in Goliath” from The Mars Volta sold 54,000 copies to come in at No. 3 on the chart. “Scream Aim Fire” from Bullet for My Valentine sold 53,000 copies to place No. 4. The compilation album “2008 Grammy Nominees” debuted on the chart in the No. 5 position with 50,000 copies sold.

The Top 10 was rounded out by “Growing Pains” by Mary J. Blige, the remix album “Hannah Montana 2: Non-Stop Dance Party,” “Just Like You” by Keyshia Cole, the self-titled debut by Taylor Swift, and “Hannah Montana 2 Soundtrack/Meet Miley Cyrus” from Miley Cyrus.
